The National Library of Peru, through its Institutional Image and Cultural Extension Office, convenes the Course-Workshop The art of making paper , which will take place on Tuesday 26, Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 February, with the aim of promoting the importance of recycling paper as a measure to protect the environment. Learning papermaking techniques from natural and domestic elements is a novel way of contributing, from our homes, to the maximum use of this material, preventing it from being wasted.
Paper artisans Georges Criblez and Patricia Roca They will dictate a total of 17 class hours during the three days of the Course-Workshop, two of which will be dedicated exclusively to the practice of paper making and the use of natural dyes such as tea, cochineal, broom, chamomile, etc. Cribleness He is an experienced plastic artist, with a vast experience in national and international exhibitions. In addition, he has followed craft papermaking courses in Peru, Argentina and Brazil.
On Tuesday 26, exhibitors will offer a panoramic view of the history of paper, the evolution of the various techniques used in the Far East, Europe and America. The participants will learn about the raw materials, utensils and procedures that they will put into practice the following two days. Finally, an interesting video on the paper route will be shown. The hours will be from 2 to 5 pm, in the SUM Room of the Library.
For the practical classes, attendees should wear sportswear and sneakers, provided with the following materials:scissors, ½ kilo of corn husks (Wednesday 27); a 30×40 cm plywood board, Yes wipes, rubber gloves like those used for laundry (Thursday 28); and, for both days, a sheet of cardboard of any color, a notebook used for recycling, two empty gossips (similar to ketchup containers), approximately one kilo of scraps of paper and cardboard used for recycling, dry leaves, dry plants , stamps, fresh and dried flower petals, glitter, rope and colored threads. Both days classes will be from 8:30 am. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, in the Second Dining Room of the Library.
The cost of The art of making paper is from S/. 100.00 per participant.
