What the currency in Germany before euro?

The currency used in Germany before the adoption of the euro was the Deutsche Mark (DM). The Deutsche Mark was introduced in 1948 and was the official currency of West Germany until 1990 when it became the currency for the entire reunified Germany. The Deutsche Mark was subdivided into 100 pfennigs. The Deutsche Mark was replaced by the euro in 2002 as part of the European Union's monetary union.
