What happened to archduke franz Ferdinand and his wife?

Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, were assassinated in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, by Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb nationalist.

Franz Ferdinand was the heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, and his assassination brought tensions between Austria-Hungary and Serbia to a boiling point. Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia, which Serbia partially accepted. However, Austria-Hungary used the partial acceptance as a pretext to declare war on Serbia, which in turn led to the outbreak of World War I.
