History of Europe

Who ruled rome in 49 bc?

In 49 BCE (Before the Common Era), Rome was governed by the First Triumvirate, an unofficial political alliance of three prominent figures in the Roman Republic:

* Gaius Julius Caesar (Julius Caesar)

* Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (Pompey the Great)

* Marcus Licinius Crassus

Although the Roman Republic was still in place at this time, the First Triumvirate effectively held significant power and influence in making political and military decisions. These three individuals held considerable control over the Roman Senate and the Roman army.
