How long have Germany and the US been allies?

The United States and Germany have not always been allies. The two countries were on opposing sides during World War I and World War II. However, in the aftermath of World War II, the United States and Germany became close allies. The United States provided significant economic aid to Germany through the Marshall Plan, which helped to rebuild the German economy.
