Why is the day of battle significant to Cassius?

Cassius has a dream on the night before the battle. In this dream, the spirit of Caesar appears to him and says, "Thou shalt see me at Philippi." Cassius is initially terrified by this vision but eventually takes it as an omen of his own death. He tells Brutus that he knows he will die in the upcoming battle, and he asks Brutus to kill himself if they are defeated.
