Who was the first woman to receive a degree in UK?

The first British university to admit women and to award them degrees was London University, in 1878. Philippa Fawcett, daughter of the campaigner for women's suffrage, Millicent Fawcett, received the first-ever degree awarded to a woman in Britain, becoming BSc in Mathematics with First-Class Honours at Girton College, Cambridge.
