History of Europe

How long was rome a major power?

Rome was a major power for over a thousand years. The Roman Republic was founded in 509 BC and lasted until the death of Julius Caesar in 44 BC. The Roman Empire was then established and lasted until the fall of the Western Roman Empire in 476 AD. The Eastern Roman Empire, also known as the Byzantine Empire, continued to exist until 1453 AD.

During its thousand-year history, Rome was one of the most powerful and influential empires in the world. The Romans made significant contributions to law, government, architecture, engineering, and literature. The Roman Empire also spread Christianity throughout Europe and the Middle East.

The fall of the Roman Empire is often seen as the end of the ancient world and the beginning of the Middle Ages. However, the Roman Empire had a profound impact on Western civilization, and its legacy can still be seen today.
