Who were the first europeon setlers to live in motueka?

Abel Tasman was the first European to set foot in Motueka, in 1642, he was greeted by the local Māori iwi, Ngāti Tūmatakōkiri, who were well aware of the presence of Europeans in the region. James Cook passed through the area in 1770 and noted that the Māori were cultivating land there.
