A pharaonic solution for annoying flies

I suppose that many of you have seen bags of water, or even CDs, hung on many terraces and that have the mission of warding off flies. The most coherent explanation, that I have found, is that when they see their reflection with an enormous size they get scared and leave (?). And since no one was free from being the target of annoying flies, Pharaoh Pepi II opted for a solution... curious .

Pepi II he was a pharaoh of the 6th dynasty in Egypt of the Old Kingdom. Following the early death of his father Merenre I, he ascended the throne at the age of six and is credited with having reigned for over 90 years (?).

It is said that Pepi II found the perfect solution to drive away flies: he was always accompanied by several slaves covered in honey . Having such greedy targets with him, the flies focused on them and left the pharaoh alone. Here's a BBC parody:
