I guess the history of diving is as old as humanity itself. Diving into the waters to get food has nothing special or particular, but I am referring to the use of some kind of "gadget" to be able to dive longer than the time allowed by freediving.
The great Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC), the philosopher and scientist of Ancient Greece, already mentions the use of a kind of inverted metal bell submerged in water and that the "divers" use to breathe the air that gets trapped inside the bell. The legend tells, because it is a legend , than his most outstanding disciple, Alexander the Great After conquering half the world, he was interested in exploring the depths of the ocean. So, he plunged into the sea encased in «a very fine container made entirely of white glass "And that he found a sea monster that took three whole days to traverse its length.
Logically, this legend only serves to extol the figure of one of the greatest conquerors in history, but I have found it curious how many engravings represent this fact.
