History of South America

Why did the British invade South?

There are a few reasons why the British invaded the South during the American Revolution.

* To divide the colonies. The British hoped that by invading the South, they could split the colonies in two and prevent them from supporting each other.

* To capture important resources. The South was home to a number of important resources, such as tobacco, cotton, and rice. The British wanted to control these resources so that they could use them to support their war effort.

* To gain control of the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River was a vital trade route, and the British wanted to control it so that they could prevent the Americans from using it to transport supplies.

The British invasion of the South was ultimately unsuccessful. The Americans were able to defeat the British at several key battles, and the British were eventually forced to withdraw. However, the invasion did have a significant impact on the war, and it helped to shape the course of the American Revolution.
