Reverse: The reverse features a depiction of the Liberty Bell. The bell is surrounded by United States of America and E Pluribus Unum. The bell appears cracked, with the crack extending from the top to the bottom of the bell. The year 1776 is shown within the crack, while the year 1976 appears below the bell.
History:
The 1976-S Proof Gold Half Dollar was issued in commemoration of the United States Bicentennial. The coin was minted in San Francisco, and was the first proof gold half dollar to be issued by the United States Mint since 1954. The coin was designed by John Mercanti, and depicts the Liberty Bell.
