How did el filibusterismo help the reformed movement?

The novel "Noli Me Tangere" had sparked the reform movement by exposing some of the Philippine society and corrupt Spanish colonial issues which led to the 1872 Cavite Mutiny. "El Filibusterismo" was able to further expand the movement by introducing a new perspective - the viewpoint of a wealthy mestizo who chose to fight the injustices of the Spanish Colonial regime.

Through Simoun (the main protagonist), the novel showcased the option of using violence and radical means - something that the reform movement at that time was afraid of. However, Simoun's violent path was portrayed with negative repercussions, suggesting that the violence was not the best way forward.

Overall, "El Filibusterismo" served to further strengthen the reform movement by providing an alternative perspective and challenging the non-violent approach that the movement had previously adopted.
