History of South America

When did the US first issue a silver dollar coin?

The United States Mint issued its first silver dollar coin—the Flowing Hair Dollar—in 1794. Designed by United States Mint's first Chief Engraver, Robert Scot, the coin featured a portrait of Liberty with flowing hair on the obverse and a bald eagle on the reverse. The Flowing Hair Dollar was minted until 1795 and was followed by the Draped Bust Dollar in 1795.
