History of South America

Where did the US slave trade take place?

The Atlantic slave trade was a major forced migration of people of African descent from various parts of Africa, to the Americas. The Middle Passage was particularly gruesome. It began in the 16th century and continued until early 19th century. Millions of African people were abducted and shipped across the Atlantic Ocean under deplorable conditions to the colonies to supply cheap manual labor force in plantations as slaves.
