What is the responsibility of U.S. Mint?

The U.S. Mint is responsible for the following:

- Minting and distributing coins for the United States

- Producing and distributing gold and silver bullion coins

- Maintaining the nation's coinage system

- Protecting the integrity of the U.S. currency

- Developing and implementing new and existing coinage programs and products

- Participating in international activities related to coinage and monetary matters

- Storing, safeguarding, and issuing gold, silver, and platinum bullion coins

- Providing security for both employees and visitors

- Developing and implementing educational programs about coins and coinage
