History of South America

What is it called when people have no freedom?

Slavery is the condition in which one person is owned by another and is forced to work without pay. Slavery has been practiced throughout human history, and it continues to exist in some parts of the world today.

Serfdom is a form of bondage in which a person is bound to the land of a lord and is required to provide labor in exchange for protection and the use of land. Serfdom was widespread in Europe during the Middle Ages, but it has since been abolished in most countries.

Indentured servitude is a form of labor in which a person agrees to work for a specific period of time in exchange for passage to a new country or other benefits. Indentured servitude was common in the early days of the United States, but it is no longer practiced.
