History of South America

What are the french in US southern states called?

The French in the US southern states are often referred to as Cajuns. The term Cajun is derived from the French word "Acadien", which was the name given to the French colonists who were exiled from Acadia (present-day Nova Scotia) by the British in the 18th century. Many of these Acadians settled in the southern states, particularly in Louisiana, and they developed a unique culture and language that has been passed down through generations.
