When was the second freedom ride?

The second Freedom Ride was held on May 9, 1961. It was organized by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) in response to the violence that had occurred during the first Freedom Ride, which had taken place from May 4-20, 1961. The second Freedom Ride was also met with violence, but it was ultimately successful in its goal of desegregating interstate travel facilities in the southern United States.
