How Americans Honored Those That Had Fallen
The United States has erected several memorials to honor those who served in the Vietnam War.
- The most famous of these is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The memorial is a black granite wall inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 Americans who died in the war.
- The Vietnam Women's Memorial is also located in Washington, D.C.
Additionally, there are many state and local memorials dedicated to Vietnam veterans. Veterans Day, observed on November 11, is a day set aside to honor all American veterans, particularly those who served in the Vietnam War. Many Americans also choose to fly the American flag or wear a yellow ribbon to show their support for Vietnam veterans.
