Where did slaves go?

Slavery is a system in which one person (the slave) is legally owned by another person (the master), who has the power to decide how the slave will be used. Slavery has existed in many cultures throughout history, and still exists in a number of countries today.

When slavery was practiced, slaves were bought and sold as commodities. They often worked as servants, agricultural laborers, or in other manual labor jobs. They were often poorly treated, and some were even physically or sexually abused.

When a slave escaped or was freed, they often faced significant challenges. They may have been homeless, unable to find work, or hunted down by their former masters. Many slaves faced racism and discrimination both while they were still in slavery and after they were freed.

There are a number of organizations that work to help combat slavery today. These organizations work to free slaves, support former slaves, and raise awareness about the issue of slavery.
