How do weapons of mass destruction prevent war?

Weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) do not prevent war. Rather, they can actually increase the risk of war by creating an arms race and making it more difficult to negotiate peaceful solutions to conflicts. This is because WMDs can give a country a significant military advantage over its rivals, tempting it to use them to achieve its goals or threaten other countries into submission. Additionally, the development and proliferation of WMDs can create an atmosphere of fear and mistrust, making it more difficult to build the trust and cooperation necessary for peace.
