Was there separation of church and state in the Massachusetts bay colony?

There was no separation of church and state in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The colony was founded by a group of Puritans who believed that the Bible should be the law of the land. The Puritan leaders of the colony were very strict in their religious beliefs, and they often punished people who disagreed with them. For example, the colony put several people to death for the crime of witchcraft.
