History of South America

How many colonists lived in the American colonies 1700s?

The American colonies experienced significant population growth during the 1700s. At the beginning of the century, the total colonial population was estimated to be around 250,000. By 1775, on the eve of the American Revolution, the population had swelled to approximately 2.5 million. This remarkable increase was largely attributed to natural growth, as well as the influx of immigrants from Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.
