What do the white and red stripes on US flag stand for?

The 13 white and red stripes of the US flag represent the original 13 states of the United States, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island.

They were also members of the US when the flag was officially established on June 14, 1777.
