Did orphans really go to Mission Island off of the Australia coast during World War 2?

Mission Island is a small island located in Torres Strait, which separates Australia from Papua New Guinea. It was established as an internment camp during World War II for civilians considered "enemy aliens" by the Australian government, including many Japanese immigrants. However, there is no evidence to support the claim that orphans specifically were sent to Mission Island during this period.
