What causesed US to be in world war 2?

1. Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor: On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces launched a surprise attack on the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. This attack resulted in the deaths of over 2,400 Americans and the destruction of much of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. In response, the United States declared war on Japan, thus entering World War II.

2. Germany's declaration of war on the United States: Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, Germany declared war on the United States on December 11, 1941. This action was in accordance with the Tripartite Pact, which had been signed by Germany, Italy, and Japan in 1940. The Tripartite Pact stipulated that if any of the three countries were attacked, the other two would come to its aid.

3. The United States' commitment to the Allies: Prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States had been providing material support to the Allies (Britain, France, and the Soviet Union) in their fight against Germany and Italy. However, the United States had not yet entered the war itself. After Pearl Harbor, the United States became fully committed to the Allied cause and began providing military assistance on a large scale.

4. The global nature of World War II: World War II was a truly global conflict, involving countries from all over the world. The United States, as a major world power, could not afford to remain neutral in such a conflict. By entering the war, the United States helped to ensure the defeat of the Axis powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the preservation of democracy and freedom around the world.
