When was Japanese food introduced to Australia?

Japanese food was first introduced to Australia in the late 19th century by Japanese migrants who settled in the country. However, it wasn't until the 1970s that Japanese cuisine began to gain popularity among the wider Australian population. This was due in part to the opening of Japanese restaurants and the introduction of Japanese ingredients into Australian supermarkets. Today, Japanese food is one of the most popular cuisines in Australia and can be found in restaurants and supermarkets all over the country.
