History of Oceania

What did colonies hope to gain from World War 1?

The colonies did not have any direct political aspirations or hopes from World War 1. As colonies, their political structures and international policies were determined and controlled by their colonizing powers. The motivations and objectives in the war were driven by the European imperial powers involved in the conflict. Colonies often played a supporting role, providing troops, resources, and economic aid to their colonizers. Their participation was typically based on factors such as loyalty to the empire, promises of autonomy or improved conditions, military alliances, or the presence of local nationalist movements seeking greater independence.
