How many worlds was the Norse world divided into?

The Norse world was traditionally believed to be divided into nine. These worlds were:

* Asgard: the home of the gods

* Vanaheim: the home of the Vanir, a group of gods associated with fertility and prosperity

* Alfheim: the home of the elves

* Midgard: the world of humans

* Jotunheim: the home of the giants

* Svartalfheim: the home of the dwarves

* Niflheim: the world of ice and mist

* Muspelheim: the world of fire

* Nidavellir: the home of the dwarves
