History of Oceania

How did the ADENA travel?

Adena Travel Methods

- The Adena people were primarily sedentary and lived in semipermanent villages.

- They would have walked, paddled canoes or traveled by horseback for shorter hunting trips.

- To travel longer distances they most often traveled by canoes.

- The rivers were the main trading routes.

- They built and used mounds for ceremonial purposes and not as burial mounds.

- The Adena also constructed ceremonial centers which suggests that they were religious peoples.
