Who resolved the conflict in World War 1?

The conflict in World War 1 was resolved by the signing of the Armistice of 11 November 1918 following which the combatants agreed to cease fighting. The armistice took effect at 11:00 AM, and the fighting stopped. The armistice was followed by the Treaty of Versailles, which was signed on 28 June 1919 and officially ended the war. The treaty imposed harsh penalties on Germany, including the loss of territory, the payment of reparations, and the disarmament of its military.
