Jews living outside of Judah are known as the Diaspora Jews. The term "Diaspora" comes from the Greek word "diaspeirein", which means "to scatter". It is used to refer to the dispersion of Jews from their ancestral homeland in the Land of Israel, which began in the 6th century BCE when the Babylonians conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the First Temple.
