History of North America

What were the black African Americans called in 1900s?

The term "Black" came into common use in the United States in the 1900s to refer to African Americans. During the Jim Crow era, which lasted from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, African Americans faced widespread discrimination and segregation, and derogatory terms such as "Negro" and "colored" were frequently used. However, the term "Black" emerged as a symbol of pride and unity among African Americans, and the term "Black America" came to represent the collective experiences and achievements of the African American community.
