The birthplace of hot dogs in the US?

The birthplace of hot dogs in the United States is generally recognized to be Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York. During the late 1800s, German immigrants began selling dachshund-shaped sausages served on a bun at a Coney Island amusement park. These sausages became popular and began spreading throughout the United States, gradually morphing into what is now commonly referred to as a hot dog.
