History of North America

During the industrial revolution who did work?

Women and Children:

- Women and children often worked in factories, mines, and textile mills.

They were paid significantly lower wages than men and subjected

to harsh and unsafe working conditions.

Men:

- Men primarily worked in factories, ironworks, shipyards, and other industrial settings.

-They performed demanding physical labor and were also exposed to

unsafe environments, but their wages were generally higher than

women and children.

Apprentices:

- The apprenticeship system was common during this time. Young

people would learn a trade from a skilled craftsman through a

formal agreement. Apprentices worked long hours and received low wages,

but they gained valuable skills that could lead to better employment opportunities in the future.
