The first nation to have a complete written account of its history was China. The earliest Chinese historical texts date back to the Shang dynasty (16th-11th century BC) and include oracle bone inscriptions and bronze inscriptions. These texts document events such as royal ceremonies, military campaigns, and natural disasters. Over time, Chinese historians developed more sophisticated methods of historiography, and by the Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD), they were producing comprehensive historical accounts that covered multiple centuries. These texts included not only political and military history, but also cultural, economic, and social history. The Chinese tradition of historiography has continued to the present day, and China has a rich and well-documented historical record that spans thousands of years.
