How long has wind power been around?

The first known use of wind power dates back to the 7th century AD, when the Persians built windmills to grind grain. However, it was not until the 19th century that wind turbines began to be used to generate electricity. The first wind turbine to generate electricity was built in Scotland in 1887 by James Blyth. This turbine was able to generate 10 kilowatts of electricity, which was enough to power a single house. In the 20th century, wind turbines became more efficient and larger in size, and by the end of the century, wind power was a major source of renewable energy in many countries.
