History of North America

Did the north or south have more coal iron and copper in civil war?

The North had access to significantly more coal and iron when compared to the South during the Civil War. Pennsylvania alone possessed more manufacturing establishments than all of the southern states combined. Furthermore, the northern region held control over most of the anthracite coalfields and iron ore sources in the United States at the time. Consequently, this advantage provided the Union soldiers with better equipment and weaponry during the warfare.
