History of North America

What change in the construction of rifles helped Americans during Revolutionary War?

The use of rifling in muskets.

Rifling is a process of cutting spiral grooves into the barrel of a gun. This causes the bullet to spin as it travels down the barrel, which makes it more accurate. Rifled muskets were much more accurate than smoothbore muskets, which were the standard weapon of the British army during the Revolutionary War. This gave the Americans a significant advantage in battle.
