What was a major resultof prohibition in the US during 1920s?

A major result of prohibition in the US during the 1920s was the rise of organized crime.

With the production, transportation, and sale of alcohol outlawed, a vast black market sprang up. Criminal organizations such as Al Capone's in Chicago took advantage of the situation by bootlegging alcohol and using violence to eliminate their competition. These illegal activities generated enormous profits for organized crime and contributed to a widespread decline in law and order.
