History of North America

What years are us quarters nickels and dimes made of silver?

Quarters, nickels, and dimes were made of 90% silver between 1892 and 1964. In 1965, the composition of these coins was changed to a copper-nickel alloy, known as "clad" coinage, to reduce the cost of production and minimize silver hoarding. Today, quarters, nickels, and dimes are mainly composed of copper and nickel, with a very small amount of other metals added for durability.
