* Lunch: Cornbread, bacon, beans

Notes:

* Hardtack was a type of hard biscuit made from flour, water, and salt. It was often infested with weevils and other insects.

* Salt pork was a type of cured pork that was often very salty. It was often used to flavor other foods.

* Beans were a common side dish in both the Union and Confederate armies. They were often cooked with salt pork or bacon.

* Coffee was a popular drink in both armies. It was often used to help soldiers stay awake during long marches or battles.

Additional Information:

* The Union army had a more varied diet than the Confederate army. This was because the Union had more access to supplies, such as fresh vegetables and fruits.

* The Confederate army often had to rely on whatever food they could find, which sometimes meant eating spoiled food or even horse meat.

* The poor diet of both armies often led to scurvy, a disease caused by a lack of vitamin C.
