What fear motivated the us decision to enact in marshall plan?

Fear of communist expansion was the primary fear that motivated the US to enact the Marshall Plan. After the end of World War II, the Soviet Union had expanded its control over Eastern Europe and was seen as a threat to Western Europe. The Marshall Plan was designed to help rebuild the economies of Western European countries, so they would be less susceptible to communist propaganda and subversion.
