Constitutional nationalist describes the ideology that the only legitimate form of nationalism is one that expresses attachment to the principles and values enshrined in the constitution of the nation-state. They therefore consider their nationalism in opposition to ethnic or religious nationalism. For example, some argue that the UK is a civic nation as opposed to an ethnic nation.
