In his writings like La Solidaridad, Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines never suggested or called for the establishment of the town schools. Jose Rizal, however, has long envisioned and advocated for educational reforms in the country during the Spanish times. Rizal's educational beliefs and proposals mainly encompassed issues around improving the accessibility, relevance, and the overall quality of education and institutions as the means to uplift society to improve the condition of his compatriot and the society they are living in.
