How did tanks end in World War 1?

The First World War ended on November 11, 1918 when the Allied Powers defeated the German Empire, leading to the Armistice of 11 November 1918. At this time, tanks were still very rudimentary, though in the final few months of World War 1 some tank operations saw large formations of several hundred advancing. The war would also be the most decisive phase of warfare involving tanks at the time for many decades.
