Where does the name Linus come from?

Linus is a masculine given name of Greek origin. The name is derived from the Greek word λινoς (linos), meaning "flax". In Greek mythology, Linus was a legendary musician and poet. He was said to be the son of Apollo and the muse Calliope. Linus was also said to be the teacher of the legendary Greek musician Orpheus.
