Located in northeast Africa, Ancient Egypt was limited to the north by the Mediterranean Sea, to the south by Nubia (present-day Sudan), to the east by the Red Sea and to the west with the Libyan desert.
Its narrow and long territory was divided into two large regions:Upper Egypt (the valley region) and Lower Egypt (the delta region of the river Nile).
The valley is made up of a strip that stretches along the banks of the Nile, about a thousand kilometers long and ten wide.
Because it is a region with a dry climate and a desert area, the Egyptians in the valley region knew how to take advantage of the periodic flooding of the Nile River to obtain water and make the land suitable for the practice of agriculture.
